DIY Peppermint Lip Gloss Recipe - For the Mommas

As Christmas approaches, I get ready for all things peppermint! Here's an easy lip gloss recipe that can be customized with your favorite flavor and lip tint!

Materials:
• beeswax & grater or beeswax pastilles
• low/unscented carrier oil such as sweet almond oil (you can even use olive oil or sunflower oil)
• microwave-safe glass jar (I have a small glass measuring cup dedicated to wax use)
• something to stir with (I use bamboo skewers)
• pots/containers (I use small paint mixer pots or bead storage pots.)
• essential oil (optional - I chose peppermint)
• lipstick shavings for tint (I used a natural Burt's Bees tinted gloss)

The basic recipe is 2 parts carrier oil to 1 part beeswax. I used tablespoons in the steps below:

1. Grate 1 TBSP beeswax or measure out 1 TBSP beeswax pastilles. Add to glass container.

2. Measure and pour 2 TBSP carrier oil into glass container.

3. (Optional) Shave about 1/2" off your desired lipstick color for tint & add to glass container.

4. Melt ingredients in the microwave (or double boiler), stirring at 30 second intervals.

5. When completely melted, remove from heat. Add 8 drops of your favorite essential oil. (I love the cool tingle of peppermint, so that was my choice.) Stir.

6. Pour into pots & allow to cool completely. (30min to an hour)

7. Seal pots and enjoy!
