Bub has mostly only had sensory meltdowns through the years. Unless a sensory trigger was irritated, he was a very good boy. Reed...well...he's a whole different beast. Meltdowns, temper tantrums, a day that ends in "y", you name it & he'll scream and head-butt over it. We've been talking about whether a helmet would be appropriate or not, because pain is irrelevant to him. He just keeps banging.
Tonight in a last-ditch effort to keep him from hurting himself and to save our sanity, I climbed up into Bub's loft, snagged a bean bag chair, hauled it into the living room, & set Reed in it. To my surprise he settled in minutes. (I guess it took too much energy to head-butt while trapped in there? Plus the sensory input probably helped.) It's not a complete fix, but at this point, a temporary solution is better than nothing!
