DIY - Sensory Skills Builder Tub

Here is an easy, DIY sensory skill tub project for you! These tubs are great for building motor skills, manual dexterity, and strength in little fingers. Plus, using items like pom-poms add a great textural element to the activity. A couple of Reed's EI therapists used these regularly, and they are super easy to customize and make!

Materials:
- empty plastic tub with removable lid (you could use an empty cottage cheese or margarine container)
- scissors/knife
- "stuffer" items like beans, pom-poms, or dried pasta
- (optional) tape

Directions: Using the knife/scissors, cut a hole in the top of the container that is just big enough for the stuffer items to go through. (Optional) Apply tape around the cut area to smooth over any jagged edges.

That's it! You're little one is ready to play! We used multiple sizes of pom-poms in ours to increase the challenge and build strength. (The big ones are much harder to get through the hole and require much more force.)
